In Goliath, a sprawling work of futuristic science fiction, Tochi Onyebuchi crafts a story about the meaning of home when that concept has all but collapsed. Set in the 2050s, when living on earth has become passé (at least for the privileged who can flee to space colonies), Goliath interrogates issues of race, gentrification, colonialism, climate change, and technology. Through the stories of multiple characters, Onyebuchi’s tightly packed prose gives a look into the unimaginable desperation of living in a post-apocalyptic world. —Mahita GajananB
